New homes planned on derelict Weston hotel site

Property developers are being sought for an exciting residential development site close to the seafront in Weston-super-Mare.

With an existing planning permission for demolition of the existing hotel and construction of 41 apartments, the Lynton House Hotel in Madeira Road is being marketed by Flax Bourton-based CJH Land at £750,000 freehold.

CJH Land director Matthew Hiles said the site occupies a key position in a popular residential area in the town but had lain derelict for several years.

“Clearly everyone concerned wants to see the Lynton House Hotel site tidied up and re-developed as soon as possible. To ensure developers are given the widest range of options we will consider offers on a ‘subject to planning basis’.

“The 0.38 acre site has planning permission for 41 apartments but this could be changed to a housing led scheme via a new planning application if potential purchasers thought it more appropriate.”

The former hotel which closed down some time ago includes a basement and three floors within a popular residential area at the northern end of the seafront close to Birnbeck Pier and Knightstone Island.

Matthew Hiles said: “The site is within an easy walk of many of Weston’s attractions and provides a great opportunity for an exciting new residential development which will be of great benefit to the surrounding area.”
